The Science of Social Timing

The interesting infographic below was produced by KissMetrics.

It’s all based on American time, but the theory still holds – if you’ve got something important to say attempt to say it when people might be paying attention.

It goes to reason that in the same way that first thing Monday morning is not the time to send out an email newsletter it is also not the best time to start tweeting and sharing your latest news or articles.  However mid to late morning after the emails have been read and the coffee is being drunk with a chocolate digestive people will check up on their social feeds.

If you’re being social, chatting or filling time you can do it whenever but messages you consider important should have a small bit of thought as to when best to send them.

It’s now 4:30pm on a Friday during Wimbledon week in the UK so I’m sure this is the best time to post this article and tweet about it :)
